Gatsby & WordPress - 5.5. - Registering Custom Taxonomies in WPGraphQL

by Jack Pritchard

Hey! This post's a little over two years old now, so some of what's here might be out of date. Still worth a read, but if anything really matters to you, it's worth double-checking against a newer source too.

We go into how you can register a custom taxonomy for your WordPress theme, and then expose the taxonomy within your WPGraphQL schema.

We then use the new taxonomy to group posts based on their video series(es) which we will later implement in our Gatsby site; generating video series pages that list the posts/videos under the taxonomy.

WPGraphQL has released many versions since this was recorded — the registration API for exposing a taxonomy in the schema may have changed since.
