Hey! Just so you know, this article is over 2 years old. Some of the information in it might be outdated, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm not saying it's not worth a read, but don't take everything in it as gospel. If you're curious about something, it never hurts to double-check with a more up-to-date source!

Moov2 took part in the BIMA Digital Day at Itchen College on Tuesday the 15th of November. 30 IT college students met Dan Thomas (Director) and Jack Davies (Website Developer), to give them an insight into what a full-time job in this sector entails. After a brief introduction into what the Moov2 team does, a discussion was opened about the different routes that are available to young people within digital industries. As part of the experience for the students, Jack and Dan put to the students three different problems based on real world issues. This was to see how they could use their digital skills to find solutions. The teams were made up of 3-5 students, which Jack and Dan offered helping hands throughout the day to show the students their expertise. The problems were -

  1. TATA Communications - poverty task
  2. Standard Life - money matters task
  3. UK Cancer Research - obesity causes cancer task

With the tasks set, each team began forming a campaign around their solutions, constructing notes based on research around the issues and what may cause the problems in the first place. Once the problem had been defined and general notes had been compiled, each team focused heavily on their solutions, how they would work and how they would look. The quality of the solutions impressed both Jack and Dan, as well as the IT teaching staff and the fellow students from the group. With the solutions and campaigns complete, the teams then went on to present their ideas to the rest of the group. Each team would be judged based on their quality of the idea and the visual assets they had created to use to convey the message of their solution. Unfortunately not every team could win, and it wasn't an easy decision for the Moov2 team and staff of Itchin college to decide on finalists. After a lengthy and detailed discussion on the solutions presented, the winners were decided. The winning teams included -

On behalf of Moov2, we would like to thank all of the students who participated from Itchen College and the IT teaching staff who helped oversee and contribute to the day. It was a great experience to help the students realize what it is like to work in the digital industry, as well as help them realize what directions they would want to go down.
